Spy Sweeper detects and removes spyware on personal computers that run Microsoft Windows. Spyware Sweeper is nearly as good as Ad-Aware but not as popular because it doesn’t offer free version of its software. It is also lighter in resource usage when compared to Ad-Aware 2008. This free license is only valid for 6 months but not 1 year like the previous offer. I think there’s a reason why they are only providing free license up to this year. Here are some information I managed to gather.
August 2006 = version 5.0.7
October 2006 = version 5.2
June 2007 = version 5.5
Looking at the cycle of Spyware Sweeper versions above, I have a feeling that a newer version of Spy Sweeper is going to be released sometime around end of the year or early next year. Perhaps that is the reason why they don’t mind giving out free licenses for Spy Sweeper v5.5 the second time but with the condition that it will only last until end of 2008.
